Religion is stupid. I don't care if you "aren't one of those fundies," unless you have evidence for your beliefs, you're stupid. Just because you decided evolution is real (when a creationist says that they almost always mean only microevolution) or the earth is older than 6000 years or some shit, doesn't mean you can prove your specific god is real. There doesn't need to be a god for the universe to exist, just because it's too complicated for us to understand, it's like if someone took a picture of someone from some native tribe and the native thought they were a god because they've never seen a camera before. If you're an "accepting" Christian, Muslim, or Jew (or most other religions) then you're not a true Christian/Muslim/Jew/whatever. Just because Jesus saved everyone from sin or whatever doesn't mean the old testament doesn't matter.
"For
truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest
letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from
the Law until everything is accomplished." (Matthew 5:18) That's in the new testament, it says you can't ignore any of God's laws, including the ones in the old testament.
If you were such a "smart Christian" (or whatever other religion) you would have a reason to believe in God (and specifically your god) other than faith. Religion being allowed/accepted doesn't mean it's smart.
